India Yamaha Motor has launched the new YZF-R1 at Rs 2,073,074 ex-showroom, Delhi. The flagship motorcycle is imported to the country as a Completely Built-up Unit (CBU).
Built on an aluminium Deltabox frame, the new R1 is powered by a 998 cc forward-inclined parallel 4-cylinder engine that delivers 200 PS at 13,500 rpm and 112.4 Nm (83 lb-ft) of torque at 11,500 rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. There is an updated Quick Shift System (QSS) for clutch-free shifting.
Other features include LED headlamps with LED running lights, LED taillamp, track-developed racing ABS, titanium exhaust, and an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) which uses six axes of measurement: a gyro sensor that measures pitch, roll, and yaw, and an accelerometer that measures acceleration in the fore-aft, up-down, and right-left directions.
The motorcycle weighs 200 kg (441 lbs) wet.
The front suspension is a 43 mm telescopic fork while the rear is a swingarm (link suspension). Braking duties are handled by dual 320 mm discs at the front and a single 220 mm disc at the rear.
Buyers have a choice of Yamaha Blue (featured above) or Tech Black paint jobs.
