The Honda City and Hyundai Verna competitor from Toyota, the 2018 Vios (also sold as Yaris Ativ) has scored 5 Stars in ASEAN NCAP crash test.
Manufactured in Thailand, the tested vehicle had 1.5-litre petrol engine and weighed 1,115 kg kerb. Safety equipment included a total of 7 airbags, ABS, ESC, front seat belt pretentioners and load limiters, and seat belt reminders.
For adult occupant protection, in frontal impact, the report said that the driver’s head and knee scored full 4 points in the test. However, there is a possibility for the chest and lower leg to sustain injury in a real world crash. The test rated chest and lower leg protection to be adequate.
“This is Vios second assessment with ASEAN NCAP in which the first assessment it received 4-Star rating. The new Toyota Vios is fitted with seven airbags as standard across all variants. Additional to this, the Vios is fully equipped with active safety features that are Seatbelt Reminder System for its frontal occupants and Electronic Stability Control in all its variants. With these impressive achievements by achieving 81.63 points, the new Toyota Vios has made it eligible for 5-Star ASEAN NCAP,” the report said in its overall rating. Full report can be accessed here.
