Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has launched the new Gold Wing touring motorcycle, priced at Rs 26.85 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. Bookings can be done only at Honda’s exclusive Wing World sales & service outlets in Delhi and Mumbai, and deliveries will begin early 2018.
The 2018 Gold Wing is powered by a reworked 1,833 cc engine, still as a horizontally-opposed flat-six, but now with four valves per cylinder instead of two. Overall, the engine is 6.2 kg lighter than before. Peak power of 125 hp arrives at 5,500 rpm, with peak torque of 170 Nm delivered at 4,500 rpm. Transmission is now a 7-speed DCT.
Honda said, the newly introduced Throttle By Wire (TBW) adds 4 rider modes (Tour, Sport, Econ and Rain) to prevent loss of grip in the rear wheel. The rider modes manage HSTC (Honda Selectable Torque Control) and suspension damping for heightened rider control. Additionally, there are brake force Idling Stop and Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) for an ultra-quiet start-up. ABS and Dual-Combined Braking System (D-CBS) is equipped as standard to optimally distribute braking force to the front and rear wheels. Also new is the Hill-start Assist.
Other features include a 7-inch TFT colour infotainment system, Apple CarPlay (claimed to be world’s first in a motorcycle), cruise control via Throttle By Wire (TBW), electric windscreen adjustable for angle and height, full-LED lighting, auto-canceling indicators, and smart key control for ignition and luggage. There is also a premium audio system with Bluetooth headset and USB port.
The 2018 Gold Wing gets double wishbone front suspension with single shock at the rear.
Customers can choose between the 2 variants – Gold Wing and Gold wing Tour in the new glossy Candy Ardent Red colour.
