Royal Enfield has unveiled a new 650 cc parallel-twin cylinder engine at their new Technology Centre in Leicestershire, UK. The company will showcase the new engine at the upcoming Milan Motorcycle Show or EICMA, this week.
The 648 cc 4-stroke parallel-twin engine produces 47 hp @ 7100 rpm and 52 Nm of torque @ 4000 rpm. The engine has 4-valves per cylinder, SOHC configuration and uses fuel injection system. There is a 270° single-piece forged crankshaft and a balancer shaft for reduced vibrations. The engine is paired to a 6-speed transmission.
Visually, the new 650 engine has been inspired by the old, 1948 500 Twin engine.
