Two months ago, we saw the new Dacia Duster. Now though, it’s time for the parent company Renault’s version of new Duster.

The new Duster boasts a more serious exterior styling that lets go of the current one’s soft-roader appeal. The side profile is unmistakably Duster, except for an increased beltline and a new lower character line. If you notice, the new Duster still uses flap style door handles; it’s now a signature perhaps. Overall, the SUV appears to be larger and the build quality both inside-out looks premium. Rounding off the exterior looks are the new 17-inch wheels.

The interior layout now looks German-like and appears a lot more premium. The ergonomic flaws of the current Duster have been taken care of. The touchscreen infotainment appears to be the same 7-inch unit that is installed in the current Renault cars.

Renault said that the new Duster offers an improved AWD driving experience. Some of the features of the new Duster includes a multi-view camera, Blind Spot Warning, a 4×4 monitor, remote engine start, automatic climate control, keyless entry, and automatic headlight activation.

Reinventing an icon like the Duster was an enormous, yet inspiring challenge for the design team, the aim being to carry over the strengths that helped the original become such a hit, while taking a fresh look at the rest. The all-new Duster and its entirely redesigned exterior and interior are the signs that they achieved just that. Thanks to its higher beltline and the impression that the front and rear have been widened, the new Duster comes across as more forceful and its SUV calling is even more apparent. – Laurens van den Acker, SVP, Corporate Design, Groupe Renault
