McLaren seems to have been motivated by the Memphis Red 720S which landed in Bengaluru recently and created chaos on the streets with spotters chasing after it.
Or perhaps, it’s the Indian luxury segment which is growing at a rapid pace. Either way, Autocar India reports that the Woking-based sports car maker has plans to officially enter the Indian market in 2018, and aims to sell at least 10 cars a year.
Last year, McLaren announced that the company aims triple volumes to up to 5,000 cars by 2022. A couple of dealerships in India might help achieve the target.
McLaren’s current range includes 540C, 570S Coupe and Spider, and the most recent 720S. The entry-level 540C is expected to do good numbers for McLaren in the country, and will most likely be priced around Rs 2 Crore ex-showroom.
McLaren currently has 76 retailers across the globe, with 23 in Asia Pacific. China and Japan have the highest in AP with 9 and 4 dealers, respectively.
