BMW Motorrad has confirmed that the much-awaited motorcycles in India — the G 310 R and its adventure sibling — the G 310 GS, to be launched in the second half of 2018.
Bikers in India have been waiting for the Motorrad’s entry-level bike — the G 310 R, ever since it was displayed at the 2016 Auto Expo, while the GS is expected to make its India debut at the 2018 Auto Expo.
The 310 is a joint development between the German automaker and TVS Motor Company, and the motorcycles are being manufactured at TVS’ facility in Hosur.
The motorcycles feature a newly developed 313 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, with an output of 25 kW (34 hp) at 9,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 28 Nm at 7,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
Both motorcycles feature 2-channel ABS as standard. In the GS, the ABS can be deactivated at the press of a button if required.
The G 310 R retails at $4,750 (Rs 3.10 lakh approx.) in the US.
