Skoda has brought back the ‘vRS’ badge in India with the new Octavia RS, priced at Rs 24,62,542 ex-showroom, Pan India.
Skoda is offering the Octavia RS with a 2.0-litre (1984 cc) 4-cylinder TSI petrol motor in India, which produces 169 kW (230 hp) between 5,500-6,200 rpm and 350 Nm of torque between 1,500-4,500 rpm. Transmission is a 6-speed DSG automatic driving the front wheels.
Although it’s a front-wheel drive, the car gets electronically regulated XDS+ limited-slip differential to add to the driving excitement.
The Octavia RS sits 15 mm lower than the standard version. As for the performance, the 0-100 km/h acceleration is claimed to happen in 6.8 seconds while the top speed is limited to 250 km/h.
On the exterior, besides the ‘vRS’ badges, there’s a sporty new bumper with a honeycomb pattern on the three-piece air intake, 17-inch Hawk Anthracite alloy wheels with red calipers, blacked-out grille and stainless steel dual tailpipes.
Interiors get red contrast stitchings, sport seats in Alcantara, flat-bottom steering, and of course, the vRS badges. Other features include 18-way electrically adjustable front seats, a lap timer, and pretty much all the features of the standard Octavia. The RS also gets variable ratio steering.
ARAI rated fuel efficiency is 14.45 km/l.
