After Apple, another tech giant to start testing its self-driving car technology is Samsung Electronics. The company has just received permit from California DMV, and joins the big list of companies that has received permit which includes Mercedes, BMW, Honda, Ford, NVIDIA, and SAIC as well.
In an official statement, Samsung confirmed the same, but said that it has no plans to enter the car-manufacturing business. Which means, Samsung will just develop the technology and work with the existing carmakers to integrate it into their products.
Samsung completed acquisition of Harman this year, and one of the main businesses of Harman is Connected Car technology. Samsung might also involve Harman and utilize its resources in developing the self-driving tech, as Harman already has a big list of automotive clients.
