PRC’s BYD Auto is building their dreams in India by winning a contract to supply 25 pure electric buses to Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC). Reportedly, the company has also won another contract to supply 6 electric buses to Mumbai’s BEST.
BYD is assembling electric buses in India in partnership with Secunderabad’s Goldstone Infratech Limited. The 25 seater Goldstone eBuzz K7, reportedly priced at Rs 2 crore each, was flagged off by GS Bali, Minister of Transport, Himachal Pradesh, at Kullu and will ply on the Kullu-Manali-Rohtang Pass route.
The bus has completed trials at an altitude of 13,058 feet above sea level, and has been certified by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). Goldstone claims a range of up to 250 km on a single charge, and its Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries can be recharged within 4 hours, thanks to its fast charging technology.
The bus gets air suspension both at front and rear for a comfortable ride. Safety features include ABS and LED fog lamps.
BYD-Goldstone is bidding for similar contracts in other states.
Back in 2014, BYD’s K9 electric bus became the first in the country to go on public service in Bengaluru.
