Mercedes-Benz India has launched the “Beast of the Green Hell” – the Mercedes-AMG GT R, and the GT Roadster, priced at Rs 2.23 Crore and Rs 2.19 Crore, ex-showroom, respectively.
Globally unveiled last year in June, the GT R has been “handcrafted by racers”, and tested to the limits in the “green hell” of Germany’s Nürburgring circuit, said the company. The 4.0-litre V8 biturbo makes 430 kW (585 PS) and 700 Nm of torque, enabling it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds. Top speed is 318 km/h. The engine is paired to the AMG Speedshift DCT 7-speed sports transmission.
The GT R features AMG Ride Control coil-over sports suspension with adaptive adjustable damping and rear wheel steering. GT R’s traction control has 9 settings which can be adjusted via a rotary knob in the console.
GT Roadster
Globally unveiled in September last year, The GT Roadster makes a bit less power, understandably. The same 4.0-litre V8 biturbo makes 476 hp and 630 Nm of torque. The soft top fabric is available in black, beige, and red. It can open or close in 11 seconds and can also be operated while the car is at 50 kilometers per hour.
The Roadster can sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in 4 seconds, and maxes out at 302 km/h. At 1670 kg kerb, the Roadster weighs 40 kg more than the GT R.
There is an option of Burmester surround sound system, but i don’t understand why would anybody want that when they have a roaring V8 in the background!
