Maruti Suzuki has added a new variant to the Ciaz lineup called Ciaz S, priced at Rs 9.39 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. The Ciaz S gets visual upgrades, and is available both in petrol and diesel options.
The Ciaz S is based on the top-spec Alpha variant, and gets sporty body kit which includes side skirts and bumper extenders. The exterior also gets trunk lid spoiler with high mount stop lamp. Interiors get all black theme and grey chrome accents.
The Ciaz S carries over rest of the features from the Alpha variant, including keyless entry, auto AC, SmartPlay infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, navigation, dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, and ISOFix.
No mechanical changes under the hood. The Ciaz is offered with 1.4-litre (1373 cc) petrol with an output of 91 hp @ 6000 rpm and 130 Nm of torque @ 4000 rpm, paired to a 5-speed manual or 4-speed AT. The diesel is 1.2-litre (1248 cc) SHVS mild hybrid, producing 89 hp @ 4000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque @ 1750 rpm, paired to a 5-speed manual. The diesel comes with idle start/stop and brake energy regeneration.
Maruti says that currently, Ciaz is the best-selling sedan in the A3+ segment with a market share of 43.5%. The top variant of Ciaz Alpha now contributes to 43% of the model sales (first quarter of FY17-18).
R S Kalsi, Senior Executive Director (Marketing and Sales), Maruti Suzuki said, “Ciaz has established itself as one of the most progressive brands of Maruti Suzuki and has sold over 1.70 lakh units of Ciaz cumulative since its launch in October 2014. Introduction of Ciaz S will further strengthen the position of Ciaz in the market by catering to the requirements of a younger yet premium customer who believes in the sporty spirit of life.”
