JLR India has announced the prices of the third generation Land Rover Discovery, which starts at Rs 68.05 lakh, ex-showroom. The new Discovery comes both in petrol and diesel options, and in a total of 10 variants –

The new Discovery was globally unveiled at the 2016 Paris Motor Show in September, and gets its design from the Discovery Vision Concept, which was showcased at the New York Auto Show in 2014. The production version looks nearly identical to the concept with its clean lines.
The lightweight and durable aluminium monocoque architecture is claimed to contribute to a 480 kg weight saving compared to steel ladder construction.
The new Discovery boasts of 900 mm wading depth (an increase of 200 mm), 3,500 kg towing capacity, and up to 2,500 litres of load capacity. Ground clearance is rated at 283 mm (up 43 mm). The vehicle’s Auto Access Height technology reduces the ride-height by up to 40 mm as passengers prepare to enter or exit the vehicle. Other features include multi-mode Terrain Response 2, All-Terrain Progress Control (ATPC), semi-autonomous Tow Assist, 10-inch touchscreen, 14-speaker Meridian surround sound system, and Activity Key wristband.
Except for the base S variant, all models come with electronic air suspension as standard.
The ‘First Edition’ variant is globally limited to 2,400 units and features a unique etched map detailing on the aluminium trim for the doors and facia, unique badges, bold colour choices and a comprehensive list of standard equipment.
As for the powertrains, the 3.0-litre diesel makes 190 kW (258 hp) at 3,750 rpm and 600 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm, while the 3.0-litre petrol makes 250 kW (340 hp) at 6,500 rpm and 450 Nm of torque between 3,500-5,000 rpm. Transmission is an 8-speed ZF auto with 4WD configuration.
Dimensions
The new Discovery measures 4,988 mm in length, 2,220 mm in width, and 1,888 mm in height. Wheelbase measures 2,922 mm.
