India Kawasaki Motors (IKM) has launched the 2017 Ninja 1000 at Rs 9.98 lakh, ex-showroom. The 2017 model is assembled at a new facility in Chakan near Pune, which explains the aggressive pricing, and only 20 units have been allocated for the Indian market.
A 1,043 cc inline-4 liquid cooled engine powers the Ninja 1000, producing 142 PS (140 hp) @ 10,000 rpm and 111 Nm of torque @ 7,300 rpm, paired to a 6-Speed gearbox.
The bike features LED headlamps, adjustable windscreen, 3-mode KTRC (Kawasaki Traction Control) – where Mode 1 and 2 offer enhanced sport riding performance, the Mode 3 offers increased stability when traversing slippery surfaces. New for 2017 is the addition of an assist and slipper clutch.
Front suspension is 41 mm inverted forks with spring preload adjustability, rear is horizontal back-link, gas-charged with spring preload adjustability.
Front brakes are dual 320 mm petal discs with 4-piston calipers, rear is a single 250 mm petal disc with single-piston caliper.
