Popular British presenter and motoring journalist Richard Hammond was involved in a serious crash yesterday whilst filming for The Grand Tour Season 2 in Switzerland. It appears that the Hammond lost control of the Rimac Concept_One electric supercar at a corner.
The official statement from the The Grand Tour show said that the Hammond was conscious and talking, and climbed out of the car himself before the vehicle burst into flames. He was then air lifted to a hospital in St Gallen, where his knee was found to be fractured.
The statement further mentioned that nobody else was involved in the accident, and the cause of the crash is being investigated. His co-presenter Jeremy had this to say –
It was the biggest crash I've ever seen and the most frightening but incredibly, and thankfully, Richard seems to be mostly OK.

Croatian Rimac Concept_One’s official figures are 1,224 hp and 1,600 Nm of torque. On top of that, it’s an electric car, which means, all the torque is available from the get-go, almost instantly. Even though it has all-wheel Torque Vectoring, one has to be extremely careful when approaching a corner.
This is not the first time Hammond was involved in a serious crash. In 2006, he lost control of a jet-powered car.
After TopGear, Richard along with his co-presenters, Jeremy Clarkson and James May, have been filming The Grand Tour since November 2016 for Amazon.
