The 10th generation Honda Civic has already acquired a good reputation wherever it is on sale, especially in its Hatchback format, the 306 bhp ‘Type R’.
As for the ASEAN markets, Indonesia is the second country in the region to get a Civic Hatchback after Thailand, while the rest of them have it in the Sedan format.
Similar to its Thai counterpart, the Civic Hatchback in Indonesia is powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder VTEC turbo petrol, producing 173 PS (170 bhp) @ 5,500 rpm and 220 Nm of torque @ 1,700 – 5,500 rpm. Transmission is taken care by Honda’s Earth Dreams CVT with paddle shifters. No 6-speed manual like in the US or European markets.
Feature list includes LED headlamps, LED fog lamps, electrically adjustable driver (8-way) and front passenger (4-way) seats, 7.0 inch touchscreen infotainment system, 6 airbags, ABS + EBD, Brake Assist, Hill Start Assist, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Brake Override System (BOS), Electronic Parking Brake, and Auto Brake Hold.
The Civic Hatchback is available in two trims in Indonesia, the S variant is priced at Rp 399,000,000, and Rp 438,000,000 for the top-spec E.
The 8th generation Civic (2006) was in India, and garnered a lot of fans before it was pulled out of the market sometime in 2012. However, the 2017 model is expected in India, if not by the end of this year, Honda might bring it to the Auto Expo 2018.
