Its true when a lot of motoring journalists ask – how many owners take their 4WDs off road? That question has nothing much to do with off roading, but what it does tell us that most of such vehicles are struck in a busy city traffic, where swapping cogs manually can be annoying for some.
Which is why Ford has discontinued manual variants of its flagship offering, the Endeavour. The official brochure no longer lists the manual variants, probably due to the lack of demand. When the third-gen Endeavour was launched in January last year, the 6-Speed manual transmission was available with the 2.2-litre engine, both in 4×2 and 4×4 configurations. Now, the 2.2 is available only with the 4×2.
Ford’s domestic wholesales stood at 6,742 vehicles in May, up from 5,780 units, while exports grew to 16,761 vehicles from 11,499 units in the same month last year.
