Aprilia has launched two new motorcycles in India, the Shiver 900 and Dorsoduro 900, priced at Rs 11.99 lakh and Rs 12.50 lakh, ex-showroom Pune, respectively. However, from July 1, these prices will increase due to GST, and the new prices are going to be Rs 13,32,930 for Shiver 900, and Rs 13,83,652 for the Dorsoduro 900. All prices are ex-Pune.
Both motorcycles are powered by 896.1 cc 90° V-Twin engine, developing 94 hp @ 8,750 rpm and 90 Nm of torque @ 6,500 rpm, paired to a 6-speed gearbox. Features include a 4.3-inch digital instrument cluster where the background and font colors adapt to ambient lighting conditions for better visibility. Other features include traction control, ride by wire tech, dual-channel ABS from Continental, and 3 riding modes – Sport, Touring and Rain. An AMP kit for smartphone connectivity is optional.
While the Shiver 900 has a 15-litre fuel tank, the Dorsoduro 900 gets a smaller 12-litre tank. Both bikes get twin 320 mm discs with four-piston Brembo calipers at the front, and a single 240 mm disc with a single-piston Brembo caliper at the rear. Suspension is a 41 mm Kayaba upside down forks at the front, and an adjustable monoshock at the rear.
Once the GST comes into effect from July 1 2017, bikes with over 350 cc engine will attract a total of 31% tax (28% tax + 3% cess). I guess the bikers need to rush to a nearest Motoplex outlet right away, before the new prices make you “Shiver”.
