Volkswagen will be launching the Tiguan SUV in India on May 24th, 2017. Production of the India-spec model was started in March this year at Aurangabad facility in Maharashtra.
Those who have attended the Auto Expo 2016 might remember the second generation Tiguan, which looked elegant in a glossy paint job. The new Tiguan is built on the MQB platform which is also shared with several other models across the VW Group. The new platform is said to have made the Tiguan significantly lighter and more efficient than the previous gen.
For the Indian market, the Tiguan will be offered with a 2.0 litre 4-cylinder TDI engine mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. The 4Motion all-wheel-drive system is expected in the top-spec Highline trim.
Expect LED headlamps, touchscreen infotainment with navigation, optional digital instrument cluster, auto AC, cruise control and a host of safety features on board.
