Ford India joins the list of carmakers who have recently offered discounts / price reductions on their products. This move is to pass on the benefits of the proposed GST to the customer.
While the discount for EcoSport ranges from Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000, the Figo and Aspire get price cuts between Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000. The compact SUV now starts at Rs 7.18 lakh ex-Delhi. The Aspire is priced at Rs 5.44 lakh, and its hatchback sibling Figo at Rs 4.75 lakh, all prices ex-Delhi.
“We are happy to pass on (to customers) the expected benefits of GST ahead of its actual implementation”, Ford India VP of Sales Vinay Raina told PTI.
Once the GST (Goods and Services Tax) comes into effect from July 1, 2017, small cars (length<4m) will attract a total of 29% tax (28% tax + 1% cess), compared to the current rate which ranges from 26% to 35%.
