India’s luxury carmakers are now offering price cuts and benefits ahead of the GST coming into effect from July 1. Recently, Mercedes-Benz India passed on the GST benefits to the customers by announcing a price reduction of 4% on ‘Made in India’ cars.
Reportedly, Audi India has slashed the prices by up to Rs 10 lakh depending on the model till June 30. The company is also offering attractive finance and insurance schemes, and service packages till the end of June 2017. Not sure if these offers has anything to do with the GST, but Audi India head Rahil Ansari says, “this is not a measure to clear the old stock”.
When GST comes into effect, luxury vehicles will attract a total of 43% tax (28% tax + 15% cess), compared to the current taxes which goes up to 55%.
BMW is also offering benefits up to 12% on ex-showroom prices, depending on the model.
