Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has launched the 2017 Africa Twin at Rs 12.90 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The adventure motorcycle was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi, and is being assembled in the country.
The Africa Twin is powered by a 999 cc parallel-twin-cylinder engine, developing 87 bhp at 7,500 rpm and 91.9 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission, which is claimed to be the world’s first in motorcycles. There’s also an ‘MT’ manual mode where the gears can be changed manually. The motorcycle has a max speed of 190 km/h.
Front suspension is an inverted telescopic, while the rear is an adjustable mono. The motorcycle gets a ground clearance of 250 mm. Braking duties are handled by 310 mm front discs with 4-pot calipers and 256 mm rear disc with 1-pot caliper.
Features include LED headlamp, LED taillamp, LCD display, dual-channel ABS with rear ABS Off switch, and traction control. The motorcycle competes against the Triumph Tiger 800 series.
