Volvo Cars introduces its performance brand Polestar in India with the S60 Polestar, priced at Rs 52.5 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. The S60 Polestar comes to India as a completely built-up (CBU) unit. The Polestar is what AMG is to Mercedes, M is to BMW and RS to Audi. The S60 Polestar will be on top of the S60 range, after S60 sedan and S60 Cross Country.
The S60 Polestar packs a 2.0 litre (1969 cc) 4-cylinder petrol engine, which is both turbocharged and supercharged, and produces 367 hp @ 6,000 rpm and 470 Nm of torque @ 3,100 – 5,100 rpm. Transmission is an 8-Speed automatic, sending power to the all four wheels via BorgWarner 4WD system, which has been calibrated to deliver more torque to the rear wheels. 0 – 100 km/h happens in 4.7 seconds, and the top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. The 2017 model also weighs over 20 kg less, partly because the previous S60 Polestar models had a bigger 3.0 litre in-line 6-cylinder turbo engine.
The car features Öhlins suspension which is adjustable, and is 80% stiffer compared to the regular S60. Carbon fibre has been used for the front strut braces.
Exterior features include Polestar front splitter (corners), Polestar rear spoiler and Polestar diffuser. Interiors get sport seats with charcoal, nubuk, blue thread and Polestar imprint, Steering wheel with blue thread and leather/nubuk, Carbon fibre centre stack, Nubuk inlay in doors, Nubuk centre armrest, Polestar gearshift knob, Polestar carpets with blue thread, Polestar sport pedals and footrest, Polestar door sills and many more. Sunroof is an option.
There is a launch control and Sport+ mode for your track days as well. The S60 Polestar rides on a 20 inch bespoke Polestar rims shod with Michelin Pilot Super Sport 245/35 tyres.
The car can be had in Rebel Blue, Onyx Black, Bright Silver and Ice White exterior colors.
