Since 2010, Volkswagen Motorsport India is providing a platform for young racers in the country to demonstrate their talent and capabilities. So far, VW has organised Polo Cup and Vento Cup featuring race-specced models. For the 8th year, Volkswagen Motorsport is launching Ameo Cup, since the car is specially made in India for India. Like always, 20 participants will be on board.
Along with the usual roll cage stuff, the race-spec Ameo will feature Motec display and a switch panel. Don’t miss the launch control switch. According to few media reports, the Ameo Cup car packs a 1.8 litre TSI engine, producing nearly 200 hp and paired to a 6-Speed sequential gearbox with paddle shifters.
The Volkswagen Ameo Cup 2017 kick starts in June (Round 01). The race program comprises of 4 race weekends in 3 destinations across India – Coimbatore, Chennai and Delhi. The winner of the championship is given an opportunity to show case his or her talent in a higher level formula series in India, and internationally through the driver exchange program.
