Volkswagen Motorsport India has revealed the race car for the Ameo Cup 2017, which kick starts in June at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore. 20 participants will demonstrate their skills, and the winner will be provided with an opportunity on an international platform.
The Ameo Cup car will feature a 1.8-litre inline 4-cylinder TSI motor from the GTI, with an output of 205 PS (202 bhp) @ 6,100 rpm and 320 Nm of torque between 3,200 – 4,600 rpm. The gearbox is a 6-speed sequential with steering-mounted paddle shifters. Other racing mods include Sachs racing clutch, Motec M142 ECU, Motec C125 colour dash display with 120 MB data logging, FMSCI certified 8 point roll cage, OMP seats with 6 point racing seatbelts & driver gear, on-board fire extinguisher and Motec PDM 30 with battery isolator.
Braking duties are handled by 334 mm discs at the front and 232 mm at the rear. Brakes are assisted by racing ABS. Both front and rear suspension features 2-way adjustable KW dampers. The 17-inch alloys are shod with MRF 200/605 tyres. The Ameo Cup car’s wheelbase is at 2,465 mm, 5 mm less than the civilized Ameo.
After Coimbatore, Round 02 and Round 03 will be at MMRT Chennai, followed by Round 04 at BIC in Noida.
