The fourth member of the Range Rover family, the Velar, debuts in the US with British pop superstar Ellie Goulding performing live at Hearst Plaza, Lincoln Center, which was broadcasted live to the global audience.
The event was a part of a fundraiser, and on Thursday, April 13th, a Range Rover Velar will be auctioned at the East Side House Settlement charity gala, at the Jacob Javits Center. The East Side House Settlement is a non-profit organization providing education and social services in the Bronx and north Manhattan. The 2017 gala will mark the second occasion that JLR North America has served as the sole sponsor of the event, which last year saw a First Edition Jaguar F-PACE sell at auction for $101,000 and raised a grand total of nearly $500,000 in support of the aforementioned organization.
Ellie said, “I have always been a big Range Rover fan and it was a pleasure to be a part of its launch here in the US. Even more rewarding to be supporting a local charity that improves over 10,000 lives every year in one of my favorite cities.”
The Velar will be available to order from April 12, with a starting price of $49,900 (excluding taxes and other charges), and deliveries will begin late summer. Land Rover says, the New York-Metropolitan area remains the world’s biggest Range Rover market.
Three engine options will be available at launch including a 247 hp 2.0-litre Ingenium gasoline, a 180 hp 2.0-litre diesel and a potent 380 hp supercharged V6 gasoline engine. Read more about the Velar here.
Rumour has it that the Velar will be unveiled in India too this year. It is interesting to know which celebrity will accompany the event here.
