Maruti’s premium hatchback Baleno continues its sales success by ranking #2 in March 2017 sales. The company sold 16,426 units of Baleno as compared to 6,236 units in March 2016, recording a massive growth of 163.40%. As always, Alto holds the #1 position.
March 2016 | Model | Rank | Model | March 2017 |

6,236 | Baleno | 9 | Celerio | 8,823 |
5,662 | City | 10 | City | 6,271 |
The Baleno has overthrown the Dzire, Swift, WagonR and Grand i10 as well.
Industry experts believe that this development is a result of the amalgamation of high demand meeting the supply, which is a sweet spot. Baleno has been a popular model ever since its launch in 2015, and it also has a huge pile of pending orders. Due to production constraints, the carmaker wasn’t able to meet the demand. However, after the opening of the Gujarat plant, the pending orders are now being fulfilled. Till now, Baleno has over 80,000 pending orders and a waiting period of 20-21 weeks.
