The new Xcent’s front fascia appears to have taken “inspiration” from the Elantra and the i20. While the grille reminds you of Elantra, the bumper, especially the fog lamp housing, reminds you of the i20.
While the front design might be controversial and might divide opinions, the rear-end is rather neat with wrap around tail lamps and a super clean bumper design. A chrome bar connecting the two-piece tail lamps adds a touch of premiumness. Notice the shark fin antenna. Overall, the new design is claimed to have better aerodynamics.
The interior layout has been largely retained, and like the Xcent’s other siblings, there’s a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Mirror Link. Other features include push button start, steering mounted controls, voice command, Auto AC, tilt steering and so on. Safety features include standard dual front airbags, ABS, rear parking sensors and reversing camera with display on the infotainment system. Alternator Management System (AMS) which helps in fuel efficiency has been made standard across the range. Learn more about Xcent’s features here.
Moving on to the powertrain, the new Xcent continues to offer 1.2 litre 4-cylinder Kappa petrol, with an output of 83 PS (82 hp) @ 6,000 rpm and 114 Nm of torque @ 4,000 rpm. On the diesel side, there’s a new 1.2 litre 3-cylinder U2 CDRi unit, producing 75 PS (74 hp) of power @ 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm of torque @ 1,750 – 2,250 rpm. While the petrol gets an option of 5-Speed manual or a 4-Speed AT, diesel is paired to a 5-Speed manual. Do note that the automatic is available only in the mid ‘S’ variant.
Similar to the new Grand i10, there’s a new 15-inch alloy wheel design as well. The new Xcent can be had in five colors – Sleek Silver, Star Dust, Wine Red, Polar White and Marina Blue.
Claimed fuel efficiency figures are 20.14 kmpl for the petrol manual and 17.36 on the automatic version. The new diesel is claimed at 25.4 km/l.
