London Metropolitan Police has confirmed of arresting the Sahara Force India F1 Team Principal Vijay Mallya. Mr Mallya was a former chairman of United Spirits Limited (now owned by Diageo) and was also a CMD of now-defunct Kingfisher airlines.
The Indian business tycoon has been accused of defaulting on loans worth Rs 9,000 crores, related to his collapsed Kingfisher Airlines. Mallya fled to UK in 2016, and has been staying there ever since, allegedly in an estate outskirts of London. Mallya’s passport was revoked and India had made a formal request for Mallya to be extradited.

“Vijay Mallya, 61 (18/12/1955), was arrested on behalf of the Indian authorities in relation to accusations of fraud. He was arrested after attending a central London police station, and will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court later today, 18 April”, said the Scotland Yard official statement.
Update – Mallya has been granted bail at the Westminster Court.
