If you happen to stumble upon the Speedback GT, you’ll have an idea about the David Brown Automotive. Their second creation is this Mini Remastered. Available in three derivatives, with the other two being the special edition models — ‘Cafe Racer’ and ‘Monte Carlo’, each limited to 25 units.
DBA says, the body has been strengthened and sound-proofed throughout and has improved structural integrity and comfort. The hand-applied paint process takes four weeks. The chrome bullet-style door-mounted wing mirrors have integrated LED puddle lamps. While the LED taillights are standard, LEDs for headlamps are optional.
The wood and leather decorated interiors feature a 7-inch touchscreen interface with Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There’s also a push-button start. The retro dials are from Smiths and are LED illuminated. While the Monte Carlo edition gets inspired by the Monte Carlo Riviera, the Cafe Racer takes it from the vintage bikes.
The original engine has been reworked and rebuilt with new parts, and the car now produces 50% more power than the original unit. The 1,275 cc 4-cylinder engine produces 53 kW (72 metric hp) at 4,600 rpm and 119 Nm (88 lb-ft) of torque at 3,100 rpm, paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. The engine’s outer body has been cleaned and painted, whilst the oil filler cap and filter are color-coded with the car’s exterior paint selection.
Along with the performance packages, a host of personalization options are available as well.
