MSIL has unveiled the new Dzire to the media today, and also announced the launch date to be May 16, 2017. Bookings have begun for a deposit of Rs 5000 at your nearest dealership.
The new Dzire is built on the ‘Heartect’ platform, which also underpins the new Swift and the Baleno. The new car is claimed to be lighter and more fuel efficient than the outgoing model.
Speaking of the design, Maruti’s designers seem to have worked hard to differentiate the compact sedan from the hatchback. Up front, there are LED headlamps inspired from the new swift. The hexagonal grille is narrower than the hatchback, and gets a chrome surround. Personally, i think the side profile gets a “touch” of the Baleno and Ciaz.
Unlike the first car which looked like two different cars welded together, and the second one which looked like a hatch with a stuck-on boot, the third one’s side profile looks more proportionate than ever. The rear-end is unmistakably Dzire. The thick chrome bar which connects the tail lamps have been carried over. Pic here.
The interiors too get a significant design change in order to differentiate it from the hatch. While the new Swift has circular air vents in the middle, the Dzire gets a large trapezoid shape. Similar change has been made to the instrument cluster. Notice the 7-inch SmartPlay infotainment system.
The new Dzire is expected to come in 4 trims. Engine options will continue to be the 1.2 litre 4-cylinder petrol and 1.3 litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel. Transmission options will likely be 5 MT / 4 AT for petrol and 5 MT / AGS for the diesel.
Speaking of the safety, ABS and dual front airbags will be a standard equipment.
