A Volvo XC90 T8 Excellence plug-in hybrid was filled up with diesel in Mangaluru, a coastal city of Karnataka. The vehicle was acquired by the MLA Mohiuddin Bava on March 25th, who reportedly happens to be the first one in the country own one, and on Monday evening (27th), the fuel attendants filled up the wrong fuel.
The stalled vehicle had no other option than to stay docked at the gas station overnight, and inform the dealership in Bengaluru. The vehicle needs to be transported by a truck to Bengaluru to clean up the mess. The report quotes Bava saying that his son took the car to the gas station, and even after clearly instructing the attendants to fill up with petrol, they had filled diesel while he was out to make the payment.
The T8 Excellence plug-in hybrid was launched in India last year at Rs 1.25 Crore, ex-showroom, Delhi. It is powered by a 2.0 litre 4-cylinder petrol engine which uses both turbocharging and supercharging to produce an output of 312 hp. The electric motor on the other hand generates 88 hp, making the total output to 400 hp and 640 Nm of torque. Transmission is taken care by an 8 Speed automatic.
On a serious note, its easy to put the blame on the pump attendants, but its important to stay there and watch what fuel they’re putting in, instead of just telling them and walking away to do something else.
