TVS Motor Company has started to export the BMW G 310 R naked motorcycle to the international markets. The G 310 R’s platform and the engine have been jointly developed by the BMW Motorrad and TVS, in case you’re wondering.
The duo signed the agreement in 2013, to jointly develop motorcycles in the 250 – 500 cc segment to be sold through their respective distribution network. The G 310 R is powered by the 313 cc single-cylinder water-cooled 4-stroke engine, with an output of 34 hp at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The top speed is rated at 145 km/h.
Stopping power comes from a 300 mm disc at the front and a 240 mm disc at the rear. The motorcycle is priced at $4,750 (Rs 3.1 lakh) including BMW Motorrad ABS in the US market.
For the Indian market, however, the motorcycle is expected to be named ‘Akula’, which would be launched under the TVS brand, next fiscal.
