SsangYong has revealed the production version of the second generation Rexton ahead of its world premiere at the 2017 Seoul Motor Show. Internally codenamed Y400, the SUV is expected to be launched in India under Mahindra brand in 2018, and will rival the Toyota Fortuner.
The new Rexton is developed on the LIV-2 Concept unveiled at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, and measures 4850 mm long, 1920 mm wide, 1800 mm high and gets a wheelbase of 2864 mm. Not much details is available at the moment, but according to several media reports, there’ll be a choice of a new 2.2 litre diesel and 2.0 litre turbo petrol engines (in the international markets), and a 7-Speed automatic transmission sourced from Mercedes.
Interiors are expected to carry a 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, device mirroring and a surround-view camera.
As for the Indian market, the SUV is rumored to be named XUV700, and is expected to be powered by the 2.2 litre diesel from the XUV500, with a higher state of tune.
