Ford appears to have started testing the 2017 EcoSport facelift in India, which was unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November last year. Although there’s no official word on the launch date, its safe to assume that the company is yet to decide, since the ‘Platinum Edition‘ was recently launched.
The biggest change on the exterior is on the front fascia. The large grille has been pushed all the way up eliminating the smaller one. New fog lamp design is much larger, and the bumper has been redesigned as well with faux skid plate.
While the side profile remains untouched, the rear bumper gets a subtle change. Tail lamp design has been retained. However, its interesting to know the licence plate positioning of the India-spec model, since it appears to continue to carry the tailgate mounted spare wheel.
On the inside, there’s a new dashboard layout with orange accents, packing an 8 inch SYNC 3 floating touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and navigation. The top of the line trim gets 675 Watt Bang & Olufsen surround sound system tuned by Harman acoustic engineers. Besides the usual automatic climate control, cruise control, there’s voice recognition and ambient lighting feature as well. Unfortunately there’s no interior spy pic of the India-spec model to confirm the same.
Americans will get the facelifted EcoSport in 2018 with a 4WD option (Intelligent 4WD) and discs at all four corners. Expect no mechanical changes for the India version, but the US market will get a 2.0 litre 4 cylinder and a 1.0 litre 3 cyl turbocharged EcoBoost option with 6 Speed automatic transmission.
