Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate’s more capable sibling — the E-Class All-Terrain is priced at €58,101.75 in Germany, €4700 more than the E 220d 4Matic estate. The price includes 19% VAT. The All-Terrain gets SUV-like rugged exterior styling elements such as twin-louvre grille, bumpers with skid plates, and body cladding.

The All-Terrain gets increased ground clearance as well, thanks to the Air Body Control air suspension featuring three selectable levels altering the height up to +35 mm. The All-Terrain will be launched in the guise of the E 220d 4Matic, packing a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine, producing 194 hp at 3800 rpm and 400 Nm of torque between 1600 and 2800 rpm, paired with a 9G-Tronic automatic transmission sending power to all four wheels. As standard, the All-Terrain features Dynamic Select along with All-Terrain transmission modes for off-road adventures.

There are three sets of alloy wheels to choose from, all painted in tremolite grey and with a high-sheen finish. Alongside the standard 19-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels, as an option, there is also a choice of 19-inch multi-spoke wheels (€238) as well as 20-inch 5-twin-spoke wheels (€714).

Interiors get aluminium trim with a light carbon-grain finish, stainless steel sports pedals with rubber studs plus floor mats with All-Terrain lettering. The equipment of the All-Terrain is based on the Avantgarde interior line, Exclusive and designo appointments are optionally available.

The new model boasts a cargo function which allows positioning the backrest at an approximately 10‑degree steeper angle while continuing to fully use the five seats. A 40:20:40 split is also a standard feature.

The E-Class All-Terrain is now available for ordering, and will appear in dealer showrooms by March 2017.
