Maruti Suzuki has reportedly discontinued the lower variants of its premium crossover S-Cross with 1.6 litre engine. The company currently sells S-Cross with two diesel engines – DDiS 200 (1.3) and DDiS 320 (1.6), and due to low demand, the Sigma, Delta and Zeta variants of the S-Cross 1.6 has been discontinued.
The NEXA chain is now selling only the top end Alpha variant of the S-Cross 1.6, priced at Rs 12.49 lakh ex-showroom, Bengaluru. The 1.6 litre 4 cylinder engine produces 118 hp @ 3750 rpm and 320 Nm of torque @ 1750 rpm, and comes paired to a 6 Speed manual transmission. The S-Cross 1.6 Alpha gets Projector headlamps, art leather upholstery, anti pinch windows, Smartplay infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, voice command, auto AC, cruise control, and several other equipment. Dual front airbags, ABS+EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts, seat belt pretentioners and load limters are standard across the variants, regardless of the engine you choose.
The 1.3 variant continues to be offered with the base Sigma. A spokesperson said, volume-wise, S-Cross continues to do an average of 2,000-2,100 units monthly.
