The soon-to-be-launched Baleno RS’ technical details have surfaced online. The launch date is yet to be out, but earlier reports suggest that the RS will be in the market sometime in February. So its time for some technical details.
Firstly, the 1.0 litre (998 cc) BoosterJet engine produces 75 kW of power @ 5500 rpm, which equals to 101 hp, and 150 Nm of torque @ 1700 – 4500 rpm. Which means, Maruti has detuned the engine for Indian conditions. The UK/International spec Baleno BoosterJet produces 111 hp and 170 Nm of torque. Transmission will be a 5 Speed manual.
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS will have disc brakes at all four corners. While the steel wheel will be a 15 inch one wearing 185/65 tyres, the alloy wheel will be a 16 inch wearing 195/55 tyres, same tyres as the regular car. The Baleno RS’ kerb weight with 90% fuel stands at 950 kg, a bit heavier than the regular Baleno. Fuel tank measures 37 litres. Ground clearance is at 114 mm (laden), compared to 170 mm in regular car (unladen).
