Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) has begun the production of “Winsome Runabout Vehicle” or WR-V for short. The Jazz based crossover was showcased at 2016 Sao Paulo Auto Show in Brazil, and is expected to be launched in India in March this year. An official roll out ceremony was held at Honda’s Tapukara factory in Rajasthan.
The India-spec version retains all the design elements showcased at Brazil, including the thick chrome slat, grille pattern, faux skid plates, bumper design, side body cladding, alloy wheel design and roof rails. The top spec model for India will get chrome door handles. All the elements of the rear design has been retained as well.
The WR-V is expected to be offered with the same powerplants as the Jazz in India. The 1.5 litre i-DTEC diesel and 1.2 litre i-VTEC petrol engines, with 6 Speed MT, 5 Speed MT and a CVT option.
Although there are no interior images available of the WR-V, it is expected to share the dashboard, bit and bobs from Honda Fit or Jazz with some minor tweaks. Expect a touchscreen infotainment system on top of the line variant.
