Bajaj Auto launches the much-awaited and highly anticipated Dominar 400 at an introductory price of Rs 1.36 lakh for the standard version, and Rs 1.50 lakh for the ABS version. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. Bookings have commenced and deliveries will begin from Jan 2017.
The Dominar 400 is powered by KTM 390’s reworked 373.3 cc engine with Bajaj’s patented triple spark technology, producing 35 ps (34.5 bhp) @ 8,000 rpm and 35 Nm of torque @ 6,500 rpm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The motorcycle features a slipper clutch.
The production version features a 43 mm telescopic suspension at the front and multi-step adjustable mono shock at the rear. Both front and rear get an optional dual-channel ABS with 320 mm disc at the front and 230 mm at the rear. A 0 – 100 km/h acceleration is rated at 8.23 seconds, and maxes out at 148 km/h. The Dominar 400 has a stopping power of 46.19 meters for 0 – 100 km/h.
Other features include full LED headlamps and AHO (Automatic Headlamps On). The motorcycle can be had in 3 paint schemes – Midnight Blue, Twilight Plum and Moon White.
The Dominar 400 is the production model of the CS400 concept that was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo. “Dominar” is a Spanish word, which roughly translates to “to dominate”.
The motorcycle is assembled at an all-women assembly line in its plant at Chakan, Pune.
