Toyota’s luxury marque Lexus has come up with a gorgeous flagship coupe, the LC 500 and LC 500h (hybrid). Based on the LF-LC concept, the LC 500 has retained most of the design cues and according to Lexus, the design theme is called “seduction and technology”.
The LC 500 is powered by a naturally aspirated 5.0-litre (4969 cc) V8, producing 477 hp at 7,100 rpm and 540 Nm of torque at 4,800 rpm, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Lexus says it’s the first time such transmission to be featured in a luxury car. A 0 to 60 mph acceleration is claimed to happen within 4.5 seconds.
The LC 500h on the other side is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 petrol-electric hybrid powertrain with Multi Stage Hybrid System. The total output of this system is 299 hp and 348 Nm, and is paired to a 10-speed hybrid transmission. Lexus says, the Multi Stage Hybrid System amplifies engine and motor output, thanks to a new multi stage shift device, which changes the output in four stages in order to utilize the engine speeds across the whole speed range. This creates a system that responds much more directly to driver inputs and achieves a higher level of dynamic performance and driving pleasure while maintaining the smoothness and efficiency, Lexus said. Watch the video below.
Both LC 500 and LC 500h have rear-wheel drive configuration. Reportedly, Lexus is coming to India next year with 3 models – RX 450h and LX 450d SUVs and the ES 300h sedan. Check out the pics of the 2018 LC 500 and let me know in the comments down below if you think Lexus should bring this to India as well.
