Just a week after its brochure leak, Suzuki has unveiled the fourth generation Swift for the Japanese market. The car will go on sale in Japan on 4 January, 2017. The changes can now be seen clearly inside out, from all the angles.
The biggest change is on the front fascia, with a large hexagonal grille and redesigned projector headlamps. The bumper has been given a sporty look with a front splitter style design. The blacked out A and B pillar has been retained, whilst the C pillar has been partially blackened to give a complete floating roof effect. The rear end has been redesigned as well with fresh set of tail lamps. The 2017 Swift gets a new set of alloy wheels as well.
The interiors has been freshened up as well, with twin pod instrument cluster with a MID (multi information display) in the middle. There’s a large touchscreen infotainment system in the center console with some rotary knobs just below it. For the Indian market, expect the same touchscreen unit from the Baleno.
The 2017 Suzuki Swift is available in 6 trims in Japan – ML (Hybrid), XL, XG, RS (Hybrid), RSt and RS. Talking about the engines, there’ll be a 1.2 litre DualJet with Hybrid system, mated to a 5 Speed manual or a CVT. The RS variant will have a 1.0 litre BoosterJet turbocharged petrol with 6 Speed automatic transmission.
Optional Safety Package offered for all variants except XG includes the Dual Sensor Brake Support (DSBS) and adaptive cruise control (ACC). The car will be unveiled globally at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2017.
