2017 Nissan GT-R launched in India at Rs 1.99 Crore

Nissan launches the much awaited 2017 GT-R in India at Rs 1.99 Crore ex-showroom, Delhi. Nissan had started pre-bookings for the same, two months ago for a deposit of Rs 25 lakh. Initially, the car will be sold through Delhi only.

The GT-R (R35) is the successor to the Skyline GT-R (R34), and was globally introduced in 2007. The car officially makes it to the Indian market almost after a decade. The 2017 facelift has a matte chrome finish “V-motion” grille representing Nissan’s latest design language. It has been enlarged to provide better engine cooling and now features an updated mesh pattern.

On the rear-end, the hallmark Quad tail lights and quad exhaust tips have been retained. There are some design tweaks to help better air flow, and make the car appear a bit wider and aggressive.

The interiors are now draped in leather, carbon fibre and brushed aluminium accents. Along with a new instrument cluster, there is an 8 inch touchscreen infotainment system, Display Command Control on the carbon fiber center console, 11 speaker Bose audio system, active noise cancellation, titanium exhaust with exhaust sound control, Active Sound Enhancement (ASE) which enhances the driving experience during acceleration, acoustic windscreen that features sound-absorbing technology, automatic headlamps, 6 airbags, ABS+EBD, traction control system, vehicle dynamic control, tyre pressure monitoring system and many more.

The 2017 Nissan GT-R is powered by a 3.8 litre V6 24 valve twin-turbo petrol engine producing 565 hp @ 6800 rpm and 637 Nm of torque, and is mated to a 6 Speed dual clutch automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The company says, the gear changes can happen in 0.15 seconds in R Mode. The GT-R is an all wheel drive vehicle (rear biased). The electronically controlled AWD system provides nearly 100% of available torque to the rear wheels, and can send up to 50% of torque to the front wheels. 0-100 happens in just under 3 seconds. The 2017 Nissan GT-R has a drag co-efficient of 0.26.

In India, the GT-R will be offered in the European spec Premium Edition and will be available in Katsura Orange (new for 2017), Vibrant Red, Pearl Black, Pearl White, Racing Blue, Gun Metallic and Ultimate Silver. The choice of interior trim includes Red, Tan, Ivory & Black.

The GT-R will give a great boost to the Nissan brand in India and is guaranteed to turn many heads.”

Presenting the new car in India, Hiroshi Tamura, Nissan Motor Corporation’s Chief Product Specialist for the GT-R, said, “We have continued to push the GT-R’s performance boundaries to the outer limits making it even more potent than before. At the same time, we have also added refinement to take the driving pleasure to an entirely new level. India is a new market for the GT-R and we’re proud to bring
what we feel is the ‘ultimate GT’, possessing amazing performance, comfort and a rich racing heritage”.
