Renault’s Brazilian division has revealed the Duster Extreme concept at the 2016 Sao Paulo Auto Show which opened its doors to the media yesterday. The extreme off-road version is developed by RDAL (Renault Design Latin America), the company’s design centre based in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Exterior wise, the concept has a matte finish paint job with red accented headlamps, off-road bumper, high profile off-road tyres, external air intake, roof-mounted LED strip, thicker roof rails, large tow hooks, winch motor and some more off-roading elements.
The rear-end too has a beefier off-road bumper with a single, large tow hook. Notice the raised suspension.
There’s a lot of muscle on the dashboard too, with what appears to be a piano black finish on the centre console. Notice the familiar MediaNav infotainment system and 4WD control knob. Extreme badging on the glovebox, red accents on the air vents, and 4WD badging on the steering wheel add some more flair. There seems to be sportier seats too. Don’t miss the instrument cluster design.
This particular model is reported to pack a 2.0-litre flex fuel petrol engine, producing about 143 hp and 198 Nm of torque with petrol. With ethanol fuel, it makes 148 hp and 205 Nm of torque. Looking at the interior picture, it appears that the extreme off-road variant is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
No more information is available at this point, either its production plans or making it to India. However, considering its huge success here, Renault won’t be thinking twice.
