Mercedes-Benz India is all set to launch the updated CLA on November 30th. This will be the company’s 12th and final product for India for 2016. Based on the MFA (Mercedes front wheel drive architecture) platform, which is also shared with A-Class B-Class, and GLA-Class, the CLA-Class made its first entry to India as CLA 45 AMG in July 2014, and the regular version was launched in Jan 2015.
On the exterior, both front and rear has a new bumper design and a re-designed headlamps and tail lamps. The side profile remains largely unchanged. Expect no mechanical changes under the hood, the new CLA facelift for India will continue to offer a choice of 2.0 litre petrol and 2.2 litre diesel and an AMG. The CLA 200 packs a 1991 cc 4 cyl petrol engine producing 183 hp @ 5500 rpm and 300 Nm of torque @ 1200 – 4000 rpm. For those who prefer a diesel CLA, there’s CLA 200 d packing a familiar 2143 cc 4 cyl diesel motor producing 136 hp @ 3600 – 4400 rpm and 300 Nm of torque @ 1600 – 3000 rpm. Both CLA 200 and 200 d will come with a 7G-Tronic dual clutch automatic transmission. And for those who want more, there’s a CLA 45 AMG 4MATIC on offer, packing a 1991 cc 4 cyl biturbo petrol motor producing 381 hp @ 6000 rpm and 475 Nm of torque @ 2250 – 5000 rpm. The AMG model will come with 7 Speed AMG Speedshift dual clutch automatic transmission. The CLA 45 AMG can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds.
The interior layout for the new CLA will remain the same, expect some minor tweaks here and there and a new seat upholstery.
