Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has launched the much awaited second generation Fortuner at Rs 25.92 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The SUV is now available both in petrol and diesel variants.

As you can see in the list, base variant gets a 5 Speed MT, and the 4WD is exclusive to the diesel.
The new generation Fortuner is based on Toyota’s new TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) modular platform, which has helped shed its weight and improve the ride and handling.
Powering the beast is a choice of 2.7 litre petrol and 2.8 litre diesel engines. These are the same ones from its MPV sibling Innova Crysta, but the diesel has a higher state of tune. The 2.8 litre (2755 cc) 4 Cyl diesel produces 177 ps (174 hp) @ 3400 rpm and 420 Nm [MT] / 450 Nm [AT] of torque @ 1600 – 2400 rpm. Numbers on the 2.7 litre (2694 cc) 4 Cyl petrol are 166 ps (164 hp) and 245 Nm, same as the Innova Crysta.
Transmission options include 6 Speed MT and 6 Speed AT with paddle shifters. As we saw in the list above, the base petrol gets a 5 Speed MT.
The interiors are finished with dark brown leather along with wood and silver accents. As expected, the new Fortuner packs a huge list of features.
Some of them include Bi-Beam LED Projector Headlamps with LED DRLs and dusk sensing technology, 8 way driver power seat, 9 inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, 6 speakers, MID, automatic climate control, all auto up/down power windows with jam protection, cruise control, power/eco driving modes, park assist and many more.
The new Fortuner gets an electronically controlled power back door with memory and jam protection.
The 2016 Toyota Fortuner packs an impressive amount of safety kit too. Some of them are 7 airbags, VSC Vehicle Stability Control with Brake Assist, Hill Assist Control, Downhill Assist Control, ABS + EBD, Active Traction Control, Pedestrian Protection Support, Airbag Manual Cut-off Switch and some more.
The new Fortuner measures 4,795 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width and 1,835 mm in height. Wheelbase is measured at 2745 mm and fuel tank measures 80 litres. Available in 7 colors – Phantom Brown, Super White, Attitude Black, Avant-Garde Bronze, Grey Metallic, Silver Metallic and White Pearl Crystal Shine.
