Volvo Cars’ parent company Geely (Zhejiang Geely Holding Group), based in China is all set to launch a new automotive brand named Lynk & Co on October 20th. Though not much information is available yet, the brand is said to be launching its first vehicle based on the Complex Modular Architecture (CMA) platform, jointly developed by Geely and Volvo.
The company’s teaser site offers no information whatsoever, just some stock footage of Millennials blowing bubbles and doing other Millennial things. There isn’t even a clue whether the brand is anything related to transportation. The website shares Internet license and other registration details with Geely and China Euro Vehicle Technology (CEVT), a subsidiary that coordinates research and development with Volvo.
“As you have seen on the Lynk & Co website, CEVT is indeed the company behind this website and it’s no secret that it is developing the CMA platform for Geely Auto,” said Stefan Lundin, a CEVT spokesman based in Sweden.
The marque’s cars would first be sold in China and later in the U.S. and Europe, sources told Reuters in April.
