Skoda has revealed the 2017 Octavia in its 4th generation recently. Design wise, the changes are mainly on the front fascia, which is now much more inline with Skoda’s new design language. More sharper and crisper lines.
The facelift sports a split style headlamps, which are full LED. The internal design of the headlamps are similar to the ones we saw in the new Superb. Skoda says they’re inspired by Czech crystal glass art.
Similar story on the rear end. Refreshed lamps and more sharper, aggressive lines. Don’t forget the signature Skoda boot design as well.
Interior layout remains largely unchanged, except for few minor tweaks here and there. There is a new 9.2 inch capacitive display infotainment system with navigation. The company says “Skoda Connect” offers state-of-the-art solutions for connectivity. It is divided into Infotainment Online and CareConnect.
Skoda says space available in the revised Octavia remains one of the largest in its class. Both the saloon and estate offer 1782 millimetres of interior space and 73 millimetres of legroom in the rear. Their luggage compartments measure 590 and 610 litres, respectively; with folded rear seat backrests up to 1580 and 1740 litres respectively. There is an optional electric tailgate available for Octavia Combi.
Safety kit will include Predictive pedestrian protection, Blind Spot Detection and Rear Traffic Alert.
Internationally, the new Skoda Octavia will be available in Five TSI and four TDI engines, mated to a DSG transmission with six or seven gears is available in addition to manual transmission. There is an all-wheel drive 4×4 for the 1.8 litre TSI and the 2.0 litre TDI. For India though, the company is likely to carry forward the same 1.8 TSI and 2.0 TDI engines.
