Mahindra has launched 1.99 AT XUV500 for Delhi-NCR region at Rs 14.51 lakhs, ex-showroom, Delhi. This engine will eventually make it to the regions where NGT diesel ban might come into effect. The 1.99 (1997 CC) variant is basically a downsized version of the original 2.2 (2179 CC) litre diesel engine, and produces 140 hp @ 3750 rpm and 320 Nm or torque @ 1600-2800 rpm. The original 2.2 litre produces 10 Nm more torque. So power and torque figures are more or less the same. The automatic transmission offered in 1.99 variant is the same 6 Speed torque converter featured in the 2.2 litre variant, sourced from Aisin. 6 Speed manual is offered as well. The 1.99 variant comes with all the same features of the regular variant.
