Bookings for the compact sedan segment newbie, the the Volkswagen Ameo will begin from May 12, VW India announced today. There’s also a nationwide roadshow planned from May 12 to July 2, suggesting the launch is sometime in July.
The road show will be held across Pune, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Surat, Jaipur, Delhi, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Kolkata, Bhubaneshwar, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Kochi and Mumbai.
VW will also launch an Android and iOS app to help potential customers to know more about the car.
The Ameo will be powered by the same 1.2 litre petrol and 1.5 litre diesel engines which does duty in Polo and Vento, however the power and torque figures are yet to be revealed. Transmission options include 5 Speed manual and a 7 Speed DSG.
The feature list of Ameo include dual airbags and ABS as standard, segment first features such as cruise control, rain-sensing wipers and static cornering lights.
